Top CW Couples

The CW Network is known for its offering of DC Comic book shows, but it also a reputation as a breeding ground for frothy romantic relationships. The network has covered different genres from soaps to supernatural dramas, but at its a heart its where the heart of the shipper lies. So, with that in mind. Here is a list of this sites top CW couples. The pairings span from steady, off/on, or burgeoning relationships.

#1: Barry Allen and Iris West (The Flash)

From the very beginning viewers were rooting for this pair of best friends to get their act together and finally be together. The chemistry between the leads had us craving more. West-Allen’s actual romantic relationship really helped the show come into its own and out of the shadow of one of the other superhero shows and this is in large part due to the magic that the core pairing of Barry and Iris brought to the screen. Their love has transcended time and space and multiple universes. So, of course they would top the list.

#2: Clark and Lois

The story of Clark Kent and Lois Lane has been a part of our pop culture vocabulary as far back as some of our grandparents. From television to movies this iconic pairing as had many incarnations. The show Smallville spent most of its first few years focused on Clark’s life in Kansas. But, before we knew it spitfire Lois Lane entered the picture and gave us a new incarnation of this beloved couple. They didn’t really take off until we found our way to Metropolis. The chemistry between Tom Welling and Erica Durance was at long last being used after years of being shelved for other storylines.

#3: Lucas and Peyton

Teen angst and forbidden love was a staple of the CW and no one epitomized it more than Lucas and Peyton. From the minute, he laid eyes on her, Lucas Scott was enamored with Peyton and Sawyer. Through ups and downs their connection remained in tact and culminated in the the pair having their happy ending before the series had its swan song.

#4: Jane and Rafael

Jane the Virgin gave the CW its first taste of critical acclaim, but at its heart it fit in with the soapy fair that they had come to be known for. The couple was shoved into its each others orbit as a result of a magical conception when Jane Villanueva was accidentally inseminated by one of Rafael Solano’s samples. Crazy as it sounds, this set into motion a series of events that would have most viewers heads spinning. But, among the crazy emerged a beautiful and poignant relationship that helped both of the characters evolve into the best versions of themselves.

#5: Harry and Macy

The Charmed Reboot has hit the right notes with this burgeoning couple. From the first season, there were hints that Harry was more than just a little smitten with Macy. By the beginning of season 2, the show had gone full throttle with this pairing rather than simply teasing them like they did in the first season, they threw one obstacle after another at them. But, its well worth it because the dynamic between the two is sizzling.

#6: Dan and Serena

Gossip Girl was the show that put the Network on the map. It was about a blogger who followed the ups and down of a bunch of New York teens. But, part of what drew people in was the charming and sexy pairing: Dan Humphrey and Serena Van Der Woodsen. The series which is based on a YA novel series with the same name had fans seething when they sought to rework what they had become used to. Over the years, the pairing went through relationships like napkins, but they were always drawn to each other. The shocking reveal of the mysterious blogger even goes back to them. Love them or loathe them, they kept tongues wagging on and off screen.

#7. Jefferson and Lynne

When Blacklighting begins, this pair is estranged. We go on quite the journey with them throughout the first few seasons of this show. The chemistry between the two really shines throughout the first few seasons of this show and we can’t wait for whats to come.

#8. Cate and Baze

In 2010, the CW went against brand and introduced a small yet beautiful show know as Life Unexpected. This show was very remiiscent of the programming of the WB (CW’s predecessor and far superior channel but that’s for another blog post). Unfortunately the show was only on air for two seasons, but its quality still stands up years later. Cate and Baze are the parents of a teenage daughter who the latter didn’t know existed until the events of the pilot. The result of a teenage tryst that unbeknownst to them blossoms into love once they are adults. The two are forced to bond in an effort to try and co-parent their nearly adult daughter which brings many things to the surface. But, beyond any friction, you can see that the two have real affection for each other which is largely a result of the chemistry between the two actors who play them.

#9. Rory and Logan

GILMORE GIRLS

Gilmore Girls, the show known for a fast-talking mother/daughter duo also presented us with several rootable pairing, but none more than Rory and Logan. While many were caught in the haze of Dean versus Jess, the writers quickly imploded both those options and presented us with an interesting mishsmash of all the boys she had previously been attracted to. Logan could keep up with her quick wit, he was well-read, but had the bonus factor of keeping her on her toes. This relationship was one of the things that kept Rory from being a one note character whose sole purpose was to trade quips with her mother. It showed a girl on a journey of self-discovery and many of those adventures involved Logan. The writing coupled with the chemisty of the two actors led viewers on a path to see that Rory was far from perfect and boy did some of us like her that way. The pairing was beloved by some and loathed by others, but theirs is a story that is joy to revist time and time again.

#10. Luke and Lorelai

Gilmore Girls wouldn’t be the same without the friends-turned lovers story of Luke and Lorelai. While the latter could grate it was nice to see her with her walls down for a change. The steadfast Luke turned out to be able to keep up with her crazy shenanigans and often found himself enjoying them. The two were prone to miscommunication and often I was left wondering in what he saw in her, but somehow the pair seemed to sell you on their love. It was definitely a change of pace from the typical superheroes and supernatural beasts that network would soon be known for.

11. Jeremy and Bonnie

Bonnie and Jeremy was an unexpected pair that really made the first few seasons a joy to watch. They were a welcome reprieve from the never-ending question of who Elena would choose. They bonded over their quest to find out more about the goings on of the creepy town and soon found themselves in relationship. The two definitely went through their trials and were one of the most underrated but lovely pairings this supernatural soap had to offer.

12. Olivia and Spencer

From their first meeting, these two have sparkled. Olivia and Spencer found themselves immediately drawn to each other. They have served as a shoulder for the other to lean on during some difficult circumstances. There is a quiet beauty about their scenes and we can’t wait to see these two finally paired off.

13. George and Nick

Nancy Drew first season introduced us to several suprising twists, but one of them was the pairing of Ned Nickerson (Nick) and George Phan. The bossy and prickly George finds herself drawn to the good guy Nick. Her friendship with George is never really put the test because Ned and Nancy have long fizzled. But, lets be honest this is the CW that’s their go to schtick. So, it was nice to see for once they didn’t rehash the typical friends fighting over a guy trope.

14. Hope and Landon

Hope Mikelason and Landon Kirby were a lovely surprise by former TVD and Originals producer Julie Plec. Known for her penchant to give us toxic relationships and boring villains, she has fallen upon a story of a girl who finds love with a boy who has yet to discover who he really is. By season 2, the two find themselves parting ways and coming back together as Landon comes into his powers. The potential for them to be a supernatural supercouple awaits them assuming that Plec doesn’t once again drop the ball.

15. Tyler and Caroline

Tyler and Caroline were first introduced as being part of the same circle as Caroline found herself dating his best friend. But, things quickly changed when Tyler sought her advice when both ended up being supernatural beings. What stronger way to end the war between Vampires and Werewolves than sparkling romance. Well, like they say good things can’t seem to last under the Plec Reign of terror. But, for awhile we were able to enjoy these two supporting each other and the displays of their magical onscreen character. Despite the attempts to destroy them, their story stands out as one of the better stories in the shows eight year run.
